COLOMBO STREETS
Publisher Vijitha Yapa
Year 2009
ISBN still on print
Synopsis Sarah is a sixteen year old girl. She is a good swimmer and she works very hard on her swimming to reach her dream: to be a world top ranked swimmer. Born to a rich and famous family in Sri Lanka she has a twelve year old brother and an adopted sister of her age.
Indeevari, Sarah's adopted sister, has a nightmare of a past. She is from a 'war affected' area in the North of Sri Lanka. Her parents and a sibling had died when she was very small and the other sibling had run away from home to join the terrorists. She has been sent to a refugee camp from where Sarah's grandmother adopts her.
Sarah gets chosen for a world championships meet but all her excitement is lost when she is suddenly diagnosed with a tumor in her ankle which turns out to be bone cancer.
Sarah's family struggles to save her life but hope doesn't seem to get anywhere near them easily. They never give up and keep trying to save her. COLOMBO STREETS is their story.
